Backing up and restoring files have always been part of the system of procedures in every business. It is always a good idea to keep a back up of important files, especially in web hosting where there are a great number of large files.
This tutorial will teach you how to back up and restore files using Helm:
1. Open your Helm control panel.
2. Click the “My Domains” icon to begin backing up files.
3. The Domains list will be displayed on the screen. Choose the domain which you want to create a backup for.
4. When the “Edit Domain” page appears on the screen, scroll to the icons below.
5. Next, click the “Website Backup” icon.
6. If there are currently no backups for the domain that you have chosen, create a new one by clicking “Create New.”
7. The “Backup” page will appear on the screen. A zip file name must be assigned to the backup file.
8. Click on the “Zip File Name” field and enter the file name that you want to assign to the backup file. Remember that the file name must not have an extension. If you also want to back up web log files, uncheck the box that is labeled “Don’t backup web log files.”
9. When finished, click the “Create New” button.
10. You have now successfully backed up the domain. If ever you want to restore files that you have previously backed up, check the box next to the file name of the backup that you want to restore.
11. Then, click the “Restore” button.
12. Information about the zip file that you want to restore will appear on the screen. Data such as the file size, date created, and date last restored will be displayed.
13. If you want to restore the backed up files to their original location, make sure that the “Restore to Original Location” option is ticked. Then, click “Restore.”
14. The domain has now been restored to its original location. The “Backup Restore” page will be displayed again on the screen. This feature can be used to add and delete backups or to use them to restore files to the server. To go back to the homepage, click “Home” on the menu bar.
