How to Create a MySQL Database in cPanel

MySQL is the most familiar type of database. MySQL Databases enable the user to begin plenty of information in an easy to access manner. It is not easy for humans to read these databases. These are required by many web applications including some bulletin boards, content management systems and other applications. The database should be created to use it. Not all users are capable to read from or write to the database. Only MySQL users can do the tasks.

1. Log in to cPanel.

2. Scroll down then click the MySQL Databases icon in the Databases section of the cPanel interface.

3. Then, create a database.

4. Type the database in the box provided. For example, type the database named mydata.

5. Click the Create Database button.

6. You will now see a confirmation that the database has been created. Then click the Go Back link.

7. Add a new user name in the box provided. This user name is not used to log in to website. To log in to the database these usernames are used by the website script. After providing the username, enter the password in the blank field provided.

8. Then re-enter the password below.

9. Click the Add User button.

10. You will see a confirmation that you successfully created a new user. Then, click the Go Back link.

11. Make sure that the correct user and correct database are selected at the “Add user to Database” section.

12. Click the Submit button to add the user to the database.

13. Then assign the user to the database with all privileges. You will see the list of privileges in the Manage User Privileges section. Then, click the All Privileges option to assign it to the user.

14. Click the Make Changes button below.

15. You will now see a confirmation that the user has been added to the database.

16. Click the Home button located at the upper left corner of the page to return to the home page. Now, you know how to create a MySQL database in cPanel.

17. You can go back to the databases section of the cPanel interface to add or remove users and remove databases anytime.
