How to Create Custom Error Pages in cPanel

There are cases wherein a viewer would mistype the URL, type in an outdated URL or when a particular user is unauthorized to view or gain access of a specific directory. This is where error pages play its role. Customized error pages alarms viewers about the cause of the error and probably tell them how to deal with it.

This tutorial will teach you how to create Custom Error Pages in cPanel:

1. Login to cPanel.

2. Scroll down and locate the Error Page icon which is housed in the “Advanced” section.

3. Click the Error Page Icon or its link.

4. After clicking the Error Page link, you are brought to a page where you can select the type of Error Page you wish to inculcate. For this tutorial, we will create a 404 Error Page. Click the 404 link.

5. The page that came after clicking the 404 link is where you create the Custom Error Page. You can insert tags by clicking the buttons offered there to further customize the Error Page. You can also use HTML tags to customize the error page for flexibility. It is time to create the Custom Error Page.

6. Click the Textbox.

7. Type in the desired content.

8. Click the “Requested URL Tag” to insert that kind of tag in the Error Page.

9. Click the Textbox.

10. Scroll down to locate the Save Button.

11. Click the Save Button.

12. After clicking the Save Button, a page indicating the success in creating the Error Page should show up. Click the Go Back Link.

13. This will lead you back to the “Error Pages” page. You can customize the other Error Pages as well but it is optional. There are preset Error Pages given to each account.

14. End of Tutorial. You can return to customize your Error Pages again by doing the same processes.
