Managing your system resources in your Virtual Private Server (VPS) is essential for you to maximize or utilize them fully. You will learn how to do that in Power Panel from this tutorial.
Just follow the steps below in order to learn how to manage your system services in power panel:
1. Login to your Virtuozzo Power Panel.
2. Go to the VPS Services menu and click on the “System Services” link under it.
3. You will be directed to the System Services page. Here, all the services that run in your VPS are listed, along with the status of each.
4. Scroll down to see all the services listed on the page. Depending on their status, each of the services may be started, restarted, or stopped.
5. You will know if a service is running through the green arrow icon after it. If it is the red X icon that is indicated on its status, it means that the service is not running. The Autostart column tells you whether a service starts up automatically when the VPS is started, or not.
6. Try starting the “named” service, since its status indicates that it is not running. Select the service by clicking on the box before it.
7. Click the “Start” button. You will see a notification that the service “named” is schedule to start.
8. Scroll down. You will now see that the status of the service “named” has turned into the green arrow icon, which means it is now running in your VPS.
9. Keep in mind though, that some services may need some time before they can start, so it is better to wait for a while before making any changes. You can also refresh the page to update the information being shown.
10. Next, click on the Xinetd tab. This will show you a page that lists services that are xinetd-dependent. Here, you can enable or disable each one of them. Remember that you cannot enable a service that is already running, in the same manner that you cannot disable on that is not running to begin with.
11. To return to the main screen, click on the “Top” link. Now you know how to manage your system services in Power Panel. For more information on the services, just click on the Help link in Virtuozzo Power Panel.
