How to Manage your VPS Firewall in Virtuozzo Power Panel

Using the Virtuozzo Power Panel, you can not only manage your Virtual Private Servers but also manage the Firewall of your VPS. Here is how you can do it.

1. First, Log in to your Virtuozzo Power Panel account.

2. Click the Firewall link at the side of the window.

3. You will then be directed to the Firewall Management page where you can remove or add one or more Access Rules to a certain Firewall. An Access Rule is the most generally used service and keeps up a correspondence to a number of standard firewall rules that ensure the availability of the service.

4. Then Scroll down.

5. If you want to remove a certain Access Rule from your firewall select it by clicking the small white box beside the chosen access rule.

6. Scroll the window to the right.

7. Then click the Delete button.

8. A confirmation window will then appear. Click the OK button to finish the deletion process.

9. Then check if you have deleted the access rule. Scroll down the page to see all the access rules present.

10. If you want to add an access rule to the firewall, click the Add Access Rule button at the upper portion of the Firewall window.

11. Scroll down the page.

12. As you can see, you have been directed to a page were you can pick from the several access rules you can implement. You will also see the previously removed access rules here.

13. Select which access rule you desire to implement on your Firewall by clicking on the white box beside the desired access rule then click the Submit button.

14. You will then be directed to the main Firewall page where you can see the added access rule on the list.

15. To change other settings, click the Firewall setup button.

16. You can see that the Firewall settings are in Normal mode which is the best option for maximum security for most cases. The Normal mode lets you to choose from 15 preset access rules that you have just learned about. If you want more complicated settings for your Firewall, you can choose any of the two advanced setting either with default policy drop or default Policy Accept. These two modes take more time and experience in configuring but offer more potential and flexibility to protect your VPS.

17. After finishing your configuration settings for your VPS’ Firewall, click the Top link to go back to the main screen.
