How to Upgrade/Downgrade an Account in WebHost Manager (WHM)

Downgrading or Upgrading an account in WHM can be done with a few simple steps. This function in WHM is very helpful when clients or customers decide to improve or downgrade their accounts. This may occur when a client believes that their website needs more bandwidth or less bandwidth depending on the traffic that the site receives. There are many more instances when an upgrade or downgrade becomes necessary. Thankfully, upgrading or downgrading an account in WHM is a relatively easy task that every administrator will have no problem doing.

How to Upgrade/Downgrade an Account in WebHost Manager

1. The first step is to log in to WHM.

2. Once you are logged in, it is time to learn how to upgrade or downgrade a hosting account in WHM.

3. Click the Account Functions link located in the main screen.

4. Then, in the new screen, locate and click on the Upgrade/Downgrade an Account link.

5. You will be taken to the Upgrade/Downgrade an Account screen, which gives you two options in locating an account to modify. You can either choose from the Account selection list, where the domains and user names of the existing account are located, or search for a specific domain or user name. In this tutorial, we will upgrade the demo123.com account.

Take note that in upgrading or downgrading, you simply have to change the hosting package associated with a certain account.

6. Now, click on demo123.com.

7. Then, click on the modify button.

8. A new screen showing the current package (abc123c_bronze) for the demo123.com account will appear. A list of available packages or global packages created by the server owner is located below. Notice that the abc123c_bronze is the only package appended by abc123c. This means that the bronze package is a custom package created for the owner of the reseller plan.

9. Now, scroll down to the RES-5 account. This will be the upgraded package for the demo123.com.

10. Click on RES-5 and then click change.

11. The next screen will confirm the change of demo123′s plan to the RES-5 package. A summary of the changes in properties can also be located in the same screen. The account upgrade is now complete.

12. Click the Home link to return to the main screen.
